Justice and Legal affairs committee chair Ababu Namwamba said that the Members of Parliament will meet all day at the Kenya Institute of Administration to discuss a four-pronged plan.

Sources said parliament may amend the constitution to extend the Interim Independent Boundaries Review Commission's term.

Alternatively, the boundaries report will be adopted by government. Another strategy will be to leave matters on hold until the Interim Electoral Boundaries Commission takes over from the interim one.

However, if all fails, the report may be handed to the Interim Independent Electoral Commission, which is highly unlikely, according to the sources.

Mr Namwamba stated that meetings between the committee, the Implementation Oversight Committee on the constitution and the political caucus have been going on.

The committee, he said, is best placed to advice parliament on the boundaries issue.

"We have deliberated on the options and discussed ways to deal with the outstanding issues on the interim boundaries team" the Budalangi MP said.

The Andrew Ligale- team's mandate ended on November 27 without having published a report on their work.

The matter was taken to court where a judge barred the commission from gazetting the new constituencies.
